How to keep the dance floor occupied all night at your wedding!

As a wedding photographer, I've seen it all when it comes to the dancefloor. Some weddings have guests dancing non-stop all night, while others struggle to keep people on their feet. If you want to make sure your wedding dancefloor is packed and everyone has a great time, here are some tips:

Set the tone early: Start the party right after dinner with an upbeat song that will get everyone on the dancefloor. You could also hire a dance instructor to teach a quick group lesson to get everyone moving.

Make it interactive: Set up some fun photo props, like hats or sunglasses, and encourage your guests to take photos and share them on social media. I've also seen hired saxophonists in the crowd and even private dance instructors!

Create a comfortable atmosphere: Make sure the dancefloor is well-lit and has plenty of space for everyone. You could also provide some comfortable seating for those who want to take a break from dancing.

Keep the drinks flowing: A little liquid courage can go a long way in getting people on the dancefloor. Consider having an open bar or providing a signature cocktail.

Surprise your guests: Plan a special dance or performance to surprise your guests. This could be a flash mob or a choreographed dance with your bridal party. Ceilidh dancing is really popular and drops the guard that might stop people from taking that initial venture on to the dance floor.

Keep the momentum going: Once the party gets going, don't let it stop! Make sure your DJ or band knows how to read the crowd and keep the energy high. I know feeding the evening guests is important, but a big announcement after the first few bangers often drains the energy out of the room. Maybe open up the food quietly, or even have your guests well fed before your first dance!

Choose the right music: Obvious right? Make sure your DJ or band plays a variety of music that appeals to all ages and tastes. This could include classic wedding songs, current hits, and songs from different genres. Ask your guests for song requests beforehand, too.

By following these tips, you can make sure your wedding dancefloor is packed all night and everyone has a great time. And as a photographer, I'll be there to capture all the fun and memories!
